Role Purpose

Receive, verify and execute Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders, either personally, or through the use of outsourced procurement services.

Direct Reports: No  (supervision of any outsourced procurement functions)
Travel Required: Occasional as required

Main Tasks

  • Receive, verify and execute Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders either personally, or through the use of outsourced procurement services
  • Develop and manage the relationship with Serica’s selected Supply House to ensure it operates in line with the contract and provides value to the business
  • Minimise occurrences of stock-outs, hot-shots and the like by providing appropriate to planning process
  • Verify and challenge as appropriate Specifications, Quantities, Vendors, Delivery Times, Quoted Rates, Terms of purchase
  • Lead in the constant development of Buying best practice in the Serica and the education of the user and supplier groups
  • Develop a suite of tools, systems and processes to ensure best practice is established and maintained and occurrences of maverick procurement are minimised
  • Act as Focal point and expert for all ad hoc buying requirements, including strategy development, RFQ, negotiation, order placement, expediting, delivery and order close-out
  • Timely liaison with Materials and Logistics personnel regarding delivery and receipt of materials and equipment
  • Ensure understanding, application and leadership by example of all responsibilities with regard to the Serica’s procurement policy, processes and procedures
  • Identify, realise and track, cost savings, and record saving opportunities missed and reasons thereof
  • Maximise opportunities to achieve commercial advantage, by competitive bidding whenever possible, and contribute towards minimising risk to Serica through procurement excellence
  • Provide subject matter expertise to the development and execution of  procurement strategies
  • Coach and mentor junior colleagues commensurate with experience
  • Ensuring compliance with Serica Procurement policy, process and procedure across business, vendors and shipping agents
  • Establishing and developing the Buying role into value add service and source of expertise that delivers the optimum technical and commercial outcomes 

Professional Skills

  • Relevant procurement experience within an analogous Oil and Gas Operator, utilising online P2P system, ideally experienced across all O&G categories however a bias towards operations support is preferred
  • Fully competent in the use of Maximo as a buying support tool
  • An in-depth understanding and appreciation of the full P2P cycle and role in it
  • An in depth exposure to materials management systems and ability to create technical descriptions and follow company nomenclature for the cataloguing of items and has developed understanding of QA/QC requirements for materials
  • Computer literate, with good hands on knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel & PowerPoint, and Maximo or equivalent
  • Experience of Maximo combined with Sun Systems
