The Orlando Field is located in licence P.1606 (UKCS Block 3/3b), approx. 11 km east of the Ninian Field. Serica holds a 100% operated interest in the Orlando Field.
Orlando was discovered in 1989 by well 3/3-11, which encountered a 160ft oil column within a tilted fault block structure in Middle Jurassic Brent Group reservoir sandstones. Appraisal wells 3/3b-13 and 13Z were drilled in 2011/2012 and the single horizontal producer (3/3b-13Y) was completed in 2017.
The Orlando field development consists of a subsea tie-back of the single production well to the CNRI operated Ninian Central Platform. The well is completed with sand screens and dual Electric Submersible Pumps (ESPs), to provide artificial lift. A workover of the existing well to replace failed ESPs was completed in August 2022 with subsequent initial oil production increased to 5,000 boe/d. Orlando produced steadily in 2024, averaging 3,300 boe/d net to Serica. Production has also begun steadily in Q1, ahead of a scheduled shut-in of 28 days, originally planned for late October for annual maintenance on its host platform Ninian, which began in March 2025.
