The Role
Join us in our newly created position as Head of Engineering, where you’ll shape the future of our engineering capability and help us deliver safely, responsibly and with purpose. Reporting to the CTO, you’ll lead a team of talented discipline experts in a culture built on our CLEAR values: Communication, Learning, Empowerment & Accountability, and Respect.
Communication sits at the heart of this role. You’ll create clarity of direction for engineering teams, build strong relationships across the business and represent Serica confidently and accurately with regulators and industry partners. Your ability to listen, influence and communicate with transparency will set the tone for the entire function.

What we are looking for in potential candidates:
We’re seeking a senior engineering leader with strategic perspective, strong technical judgement and executive‑level credibility to lead Serica Energy’s Engineering function.
Leadership & Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and clear direction for the Engineering function across all operated assets
- Act as the Company’s senior engineering authority, providing executive‑level technical assurance on complex and high‑risk matters
- Safeguard asset integrity, ensuring engineering support is delivered safely, effectively and in full regulatory compliance
- Set and maintain robust engineering governance, standards and assurance frameworks
- Build, develop and succession‑plan a high‑performing engineering leadership team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, independent judgement and professional integrity
- Engage confidently with regulators, industry bodies and senior internal stakeholders
- Ensure engineering capability, resourcing and budgets are aligned to both short‑term operational priorities and longer‑term strategic objectives
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree qualified in an Engineering discipline with Chartered status
- Extensive senior engineering leadership experience within upstream oil & gas, ideally in the UKCS
- Deep understanding of asset integrity management, engineering governance and regulatory frameworks
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to make sound decisions in complex technical environments
- Proven ability to influence and advise at Executive Leadership Team level, including communicating complex technical matters to non‑technical stakeholders
