The Role

Reporting to the Technical Assurance Manager, the Process & Operations Technical Authority ensures the technical integrity of process systems across assets, bridging the gap between operational execution and process safety standards.

This senior role offers expert guidance in reviewing operational risk assessments, managing asset risks, and acting as the central point for isolation standards. Additionally, the incumbent plays a key role in Audit and Assurance activities while also providing oversight for critical projects, ensuring all initiatives align with rigorous process safety and operational standards.

What we are looking for in potential candidates:

  • Senior process engineering authority with strong North Sea oil & gas experience and the ability to set, govern, and continuously improve technical standards and operating practices.
  • Process safety and risk management specialist, experienced in HAZOP, BowTie and barrier management, with proven ownership of SECEs and approval authority for discipline decisions.
  • Audit, assurance, and regulatory expert, confident leading audits, engaging with regulators, and translating findings into measurable performance improvements.
  • Subject matter expert for isolation standards, with experience developing, embedding, and assuring consistent isolation practices across design and operational environments.
  • Strong incident response and investigation capability, able to lead technical RCAs and ensure lessons learned are embedded into standards and procedures.
  • Forward‑thinking mindset, with a track record of applying digital tools and innovative technologies to improve process safety, efficiency, and decision‑making.
  • Trusted technical advisor for projects and change, providing oversight across project lifecycles and Management of Change to ensure risks are effectively controlled.
  • Influential leader and communicator, able to engage stakeholders, represent the company externally, and mentor and develop process engineering capability.
