Serica Energy successfully tests gas and condensate in the North Sea Columbus Well

LONDON, Dec. 20 /CNW/ - Serica Energy plc (AIM and TSX Venture: SQZ) is pleased to announce that it has successfully completed testing the Columbus well 23/16f-11 and confirmed the presence of a potentially commercial gas and condensate reservoir. The well will now be suspended for possible future use in a development programme.

Serica Energy plc (AIM and TSX Venture: SQZ) announces that it has concluded a farm-out of part of its interest in UK North Sea Block 54/1b, where it expects to commence drilling the Oak prospect later this month. Serica will also commence drilling of an exploration well on the Columbus prospect in Block 23/16f during the fourth quarter of 2006.

Serica Energy plc (AIM and TSX Venture: SQZ) is pleased to announce that, in the 2006 Irish Offshore Licensing Round, it has been awarded a Licence covering Blocks 27/4, 27/5 (part block) and 27/9 ('the Blocks') which covers an area of approximately 611 sq km in the Slyne Basin off the west coast of Ireland. Serica is the operator and will hold a 100% interest in the Licence.

Serica Energy plc announces award of block 06/94 Offshore Vietnam

Serica Energy plc (TSX Venture: SQZ; AIM: SQZ) announces that it has been conditionally awarded Block 06/94 in the Nam Con Son Basin offshore south Vietnam. Serica and its two partners, Lundin Petroleum and Pearl Energy, will each have a 33.33% interest in the Block, which covers an area of around 4100 square kilometers and will be operated by Pearl.

Serica Energy plc announces sale of Lematang interest

Serica Energy plc (TSX Venture: SQZ; AIM: SQZ) announces that it has concluded an agreement for the sale of its 10% interest in the Lematang Production Sharing Contract, onshore south Sumatra, to Lundin Petroleum AB ('Lundin Petroleum') for US$5 million in cash subject to the required partner and Indonesian government approvals. The block includes the nearly depleted Harimau gas field and the Singa gas field development project. As at 31 December 2005 the net book value of the assets disposed of was US$2.4 million, with attributable turnover and profit for the year ended 31 December 2005 of US$0.1 million.

Serica Energy plc (TSX Venture: SQZ; AIM: SQZ) announces that on 23 May 2006 the beneficial shareholdings of Antony Craven Walker and Neil Pike in the Company were increased by the exercise of Warrants over 1,521,876 and 100,000 shares respectively. On the same date, Neil Pike transferred ownership of 10,000 shares and Christopher Atkinson reduced his holding by 650,000 shares from 5,389,315 shares to 4,739,315 shares. As a result of these transactions the beneficial shareholdings of Directors of the Company have increased by 961,876 shares.

Serica Energy plc (TSX Venture: SQZ; AIM: SQZ) today announced that it granted 696,000 incentive stock options on November 23, 2005, of which 330,000 were granted to senior officers of the Company at an exercise price of £0.97 (CDN$1.96) per ordinary share expiring five years from the date of grant. As a result of the grant, the Company now has 142,548,579 ordinary shares outstanding (155,296,455 ordinary shares on a fully diluted basis).
